Abstract. The age of the offshore bar systems widespread on the south-west coast of the Buor-Khaya Bay is determined. An assumption about the reasons for the formation of lakes that separate the offshore bars from the sea is made. Collected indirect evidences of the presence in the study area of marine terraces.

Keywords: offshore bar, radiocarbon dating, marine terrace, tectonic fault, sea level position, Laptev Sea
