Abstract. Based on joint analysis of 2D convolution seismic (CS), 2D ultra-high resolution seismic (UHR), sub-bottom profiling (SBP) and multibeam echosounder (MBES) data, new information about Quaternary sediments structure and sea-bottom morphology features is acquired within Vostochno-Prinovozemelsky area (northern part of the Kara Sea). Paleovalleys expressed in the seafloor, thermokarst depressions, isolated hills of pre-Quaternary sediments, as well as accumulation of presumably ice rock debris, were identified in the site of 940 km2. Sea depth varied from 27 m to 140 m. Mainly, continental genesis of the revealed structures and shallow water depth suggest the site was the land, where permafrost formed in the Sartansk age. The Upper Neo-Pleistocene – Holocene sea-level rise led to transgression and subaerial regime marine. Permafrost formed in subaerial conditions was subjected to underwater denudation and thawing. MBES and 2D CS data analysis allowed to identify glacial sediments 10 km southwest and 25 km north of the site. It can be assumed that the ice cover maximum extent boundary was at some distance from the site during the last glacial (Late Valdai) period, but this issue requires further study.
