Abstract. The results of fieldwork conducted in the summer of 2022 in the eastern part of Kolguev island are presented. The study of the soil cover of the area was accompanied by geological and geomorphological investigation, including the examination of outcrops of Late Quaternary deposits. As a result, a stratigraphic division of the strata was performed and their occurrence was traced. The top of the section in outcrops is presumably the Late Valdai (LGM) diamicton. However, variegated surface deposits of various genesis represent the main substrate of the soil cover. Keywords: Arctic soils, Barents Sea region, patterned ground, cryogenesis, Late Pleistocene, Kolguev Island
