Abstract. There were frozen and cooled soils identified according to geotechnical drilling and temperature cone penetration test in the permafrost of the Baydara Bay offshore. There are frozen icing soils developed as a local massif in the NE of the water area. There are seasonally frozen and cooled formations also identified. The cooled soils contain both perennial and seasonal varieties. Data on the stratigraphy and structure of the upper part of the section, composition, salinity and temperatures of frozen, cooled and thawed deposits are given. Keywords: Kara Sea, Baydara Bay, quaternary deposits, permafrost, seasonally frozen soil, cooled soil, soil salinity, soil temperature, temperature cone penetration test
