Abstract. The study of modern dynamics of the dune massif on the left bank of the river Shoyna was based on the data of multi-temporal satellite images and digital elevation models. It has been established that the dynamics is heterogeneous and complex, and the displacement of the dunes has reached 200 meters in 44 years. The obtained data prove the degradation of the dune massif and the reduction of its area for the period 2003-2015, which refutes the widespread idea of the rapid growth of dunes. In the course of the analysis, it was found that the relationship between the prevailing wind directions and the vectors of movement of dune ridges is not obvious.

Keywords: sea coasts, aeolian process, coastal dunes, White Sea, Shoyna, remote sensing
