Abstract. This paper explores the possibilities of using electrical exploration methods to study the distribution and structure of permafrost rocks (MMP) under difficult geocryological conditions. Conducted vertical electrical soundings (VES) near the Sopochnaya Karga weather station revealed abnormal zones with uncharacteristic values of electrical resistivity (UES), initially suggesting the presence of a complex alternation of frozen and thawed rocks. However, drilling and thermometry data confirmed the presence of solid frozen strata, which indicates the influence of spatial structures in the form of an extensive network of ice wedges on the results of electrical exploration. The results emphasize the need for an integrated approach combining electrical exploration methods with drilling and thermometry, as well as the development of adapted electrical exploration techniques to improve the accuracy and reliability of MMP studies, during the organization of specialized monitoring sites.
