Abstract. The main types of cartographic information sources about the bottom relief such as bathymetric charts, geomorphological maps and orographic schemes are considered in this report. The distinguishing features and decisive role of each of these documents is characterized. The complementary role of bathymetric charts and geomorphological maps along with there and interdependence is emphasized. The necessity of complex usage of these sources of cartographic information is concluded. A short historical retrospective overview of the current state and conclusions towards the future of the bathymetric chart-making and geomorphological map-making of the Eurasians shelf and Central Arctic basin are provided. The report also draws attention to the problem of seafloor relief naming and current official toponyms, presented in this region. The necessity of carefulе usage of place-names according with the Russian partial revised submission on the extended continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean dated 2015 are especially emphasized.
