Abstract. Preliminary results of the first comprehensive studies of the lakes of the Kurgaskyl Peninsula are presented. During the winter and summer field seasons, expeditionary work was carried out on lakes Lipovskoye and Beloye. Lithological descriptions of the lake sediment cores are provided. The features of the modern macrophytes distribution in lakes have been revealed. The first results of pollen analysis of surface samples and lake sediment cores of lakes were obtained. Keywords: lakes, lake sediments, macrophytes, macrophyte pollen, Late Pleistocene, Holocene, Baltic
