Abstract. We present the findings of two independent methods used to determine the age and duration of the Blake geomagnetic excursion in the Mikulino interglacial sediments in the Etalon section. The first method involved optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating, the second method – correlating spore-pollen zones and phases of development of the Mga Sea with the global sea-level curve. The results showed that the Blake excursion began around 119–120 ka, coinciding with the completion of the maximal stage of the Mga (Eemian) transgression. The sediments in the section, where the excursion were found, to be 117±7 ka. The duration of the Blake excursion in the Etalon section are estimated to be between 3–6 ka.

Keywords: Blake excursion, Mikulino (Eemian) Interglacial, paleomagnetism, luminescence dating, Neva Lowland
